Thanksgiving for Pets in Need, But Who Is Thanking Whom?

Through the years that Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas (ASVT) has been helping community animals in need, it is evident that heartfelt thanks are felt from both the animals rescued and the rescuers. The RESCUE RIDERS event held on September 30 was a perfect example when Reuben & Bettyann Harp’s, “Rescue Riders” were joined by “The Thin Blue Line” motorcycle riders along with “Montgomery County Jeep Society” & “Texas Republic Jeeps” for the 2nd Annual “Rescue Riders & Fundraiser”. It was a gift of thanks & giving all day long!

SPECIAL THANKS to Reuben, Bettyann Harp and friends for the months of tireless work in preparation for this event.

Reuben Harp led the caravan along with pal Shoe and Rescue Rider Mascot, “Eli”.

Delicious Bar-B-Que was prepared by Auctioneer Gilbert and served by the wonderful supporters of Rescue Riders. Between the live auction, t-shirt sales and the giving hearts of all, the event earned $11,500.00! Woo-hoo! One dollar at a time, one t-shirt sale at a time, one auction item at a time.

Special thanks to friends Teresa & Gino from Illinois and all their Illinois friends who purchased t-shirts!! ASVT is grateful for their support!

Mascot “Eli” helped sell rescue riders ribbons for $1 each! Amazing how the dollars added up!!! In his spare time, Eli babysat tiny chi pup “Rowdy”.

Jeeps having fun!
”The Thin Blue Line”! Thank you for your support!

ASVT brought this precious Dachshund, blind in one eye, from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter and guess what? She stole the heart of a rescue rider and found her furever home.
Animals felt the love from all.

ASVT is humbled and grateful for the show of support that helps us help animals in need and would be nothing without our Volunteers and Supporters. ASVT’s focus is to help community animals BEFORE they enter the shelter system and we support the Montgomery County Animal Shelter on 242 by fostering, rescuing and transports.

Thousands of dollars donated to ASVT from our Community is spent on medical expenses, spay and neuter and also transporting some local uncared for & unwanted animals to other states with high adoptions.

No one is paid a salary – 100 % of the donations go to help the animals.
If you would like information on low cost spay and neuter please contact us!
If you see animals suffering and in need of help – do not be silent – please contact us.

Adoptable animals can been seen on our website www.AnimalShelterVolunteersOfTexas.com. Thank you to Bobbie Bennet and Susan Jackson for the glamour photos!

ASVT has been fortunate to publish animal awareness, successes and needs in these monthly articles and we thank Dock Line Magazine for your continued support as we continue to help more animals in need.

ASVT proudly continues to accept small or large donations. It all helps the animals and allows us to provide a wide array of care from basic vaccines and rabies, spay/neuter surgeries to hip replacement surgeries and long term care.

Thank you to Montgomery National Charity League and Panorama Ladies Association for your generous donations.

Thank you to all of our continued supporters and special thanks to Wiesner Automotive, Toni & Bruce Sellers (The Sellers Realty), Animal Hospital of Montgomery, Conroe Empire Electric, First Financial Bank, Milstead Glass & Home Décor, M2 The Agency, Gil & Kay, Ransom’s Steakhouse in Montgomery and many more!
