STAGE RIGHT presents Classic Comedy with Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple

If there was ever a need to let off some steam with the perfect comedy about being cooped up with someone and their annoying habits, it’s NOW!  Neil Simon’s classic The Odd Couple is the perfect way to laugh at and enjoy all of the idiosyncrasies and tension of our favorite bachelors, Oscar and Felix, and their struggles to adapt when life throws them together in Oscar’s New York City apartment.

This Tony award-winning 1965 Broadway show starring Walter Matthau and Art Carney was followed by the hit 1968 film with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon.  It eventually went to television in the 1970 series starring Jack Klugman and Tony Randall.  The Odd Couple has stood the test of time and remains just as funny and relevant today.  With the recent loss of Neil Simon, it is even more thrilling for me to direct one his most hilarious New York comedies from his treasure trove of American plays.

I have put together a stellar cast that includes John Barton and Robert Faber in the roles of Oscar and Felix.  Both John and Robert are seasoned actors who have brought much laughter and joy to the Crighton stage and beyond.  These two are sure to bring comedy gold as we navigate the ins and outs of the personalities and eccentric habits of Oscar and Felix.

Adding to the hilarity are their poker buddies.  With Speed’s biting sarcasm played by Jeff Ott, Vinnie and his whiny insecurities played by Frank Pursel, the dry-witted Roy played by Bob Galley, and John Kaiser as the no-nonsense cop, Murray and their desire to get through just one uninterrupted poker game and their fumbling concern for Felix’s mental state, these gentlemen will leave you in stitches.

If that wasn’t enough, you are in for even more delight with the side-splitting giggles of the comedy duo Mandy Hall and Sarah Wilkins as Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon.

This is truly an all-star cast that would make Neil Simon proud and bring some much-needed levity to any audience.
