conroe fishing report

Black Bass: During the early mornings many of these fish can be caught along grass beds and rocks and boat docks. Best baits have been Texas rigged worms and chatter baits. Sometimes top water baits can be productive during early morning and late evening hours. Later in the day plastic worms fished in deeper structure is your best bet around ledges neat creek channels, brush, pond dams and roadbeds in 10’ – 15’ depths.

Crappie: Crappie action during the heat of summer can be challenging, but some can still be caught on minnows and jigs fished around brush, timber and bridge pilings in 15’ – 20’ depths.

White Bass & Hybrid Striped Bass: This is a great time of year to chase these fish. They are aggressive and their pattern is much the same each day. They can be caught either by trolling pet spoons behind deep diving crank baits or by bouncing slab spoons along the bottom in 18’ – 30’ depths over submerged points and humps on the main lake.

Catfish: Catfish can be one of the best action fish on the lake at this time of year. They can be caught by baiting up an area along the main river channel or under the 1097 Bridge with either milo or range cubes. Also, using dip baits on sponge hooks is an easy and simple method for catching good numbers of these fish.
