National Youth Theater Presents: Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Sha la la Joseph you’re doing fine! You and your dreamcoat ahead of your time! One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors.

Travel down the Nile and see the wonders of ancient Egypt as Joseph discovers that truly “Any Dream Will Do.” The play opens with the Narrator finding an old book, picking it up, blowing off the dust, and starting to read. The story she relates is of a young dreamer, a man named Joseph—the same Joseph whose story is told in the Book of Genesis.

The entire non-stop eclectic score is the reason Joseph is one of the world’s most popular musicals. From the musical genius of Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom of the Opera) and Tim Rice (Beauty and the Beast) comes one of the most popular musicals of the last 50 years. This telling of the biblical story of Joseph and his brothers is filled with great music, costumes, laughter, joy, and heart. Utilizing many different styles of music from pop/rock to country to musical comedy, this sparkling show follows young Joseph as he faces adversity and triumphs through his dreams and his strong, unwavering faith.

The magical musical is full of catchy songs, from a parody of French ballads (“Those Canaan Days”), to country-western (“One More Angel in Heaven”) and calypso (“Benjamin Calypso”), along with the unforgettable classics “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door.”

This mega-musical extravaganza has entertained tens of millions of people around the world and is still one of musical theatre’s shining stars – come see NYT’s all-new glittering interpretation!

Joseph opens on April 21 at Lynn Lucas Performing Arts Center located at 1304 N. Campbell Street in Willis with performances through April 23.
