FISHING FORECAST

Some of the best fishing of the year is happening now and should continue through the month of October. While deer lease preparations are going on don’t forget the great fall fishing. All species of fish are biting now.  October is Hybrid time in the river channel near Bethy Creek Resort. Throw crank baits near the cuts to tangle with a hard fighting Hybrid Striper. If the river remains low and green there should be some great fishing here. Lake Livingston consists of over 90,000 acres of water and 450 miles of shoreline.

SPECIES REPORT:

White Bass:  Schooling action now in the Pine Island area and east side of the old 190 Road bed. Also look for schooling Whites mid – morning around Dove Island.   Good action for Whites on the old 190 Road bed jigging White slabs and trolled pet spoons. Lots of short fish being caught here. Whites and Hybrids good in the river channel cuts north and south of Riverside. Some schooling action here also. Throw imitation shad medium diving crank baits early then troll pet spoons around the cuts and points.

Black Bass:  Blacks taking Charlie’s ¼ oz. swimming football jig fished around the deeper boathouses mid and lower lake. Throw medium diving crank baits around the rocks in Bethy Creek and boat houses in Thomas Lake. Throw red or neon craw worms and June bug Lizards in the log jams in the old river channel if the water remains clear here.

Crappie: Excellent action for Crappie now in northern creeks off the river. Fish minnows in the deep cut banks around laydowns. Catch Crappie now in the boathouses in Thomas Lake.

Catfish:  Blue Cats steady on trot lines baited with fresh shad set around the old river channel north of the 190 Bridge. If the wind lays fish fresh chicken liver dropped around the old sunken bridges on the old road bed. Tight line catfishing for Blues good off the 356 bridge on the west side. Jug lining remains good in Bethy Creek.
