The Player’s Theatre Company: Lights are up on “Wait Until Dark”

In the darkest part of the year, The Players Theatre Company is bringing all the hair-raising suspense you can handle with the classic slow-burn thriller, “Wait Until Dark.” Originally on Broadway in 1966 and recently revived, performances of the Frederick Knott play are scheduled at The Owen Theatre in Conroe weekends January 26 through February 11, 2024.

Susy Hendrix, played by Carole Lamont, a recently blinded woman, is unwittingly in possession of a doll full of drugs. She finds herself alone in her own apartment when three con men played by Sedric Willis, Randall Packer, and Shawn Havranek, wrangle their way in pretending to be people they are not. Her blindness, though, may just prove to be the key to her escape, but she and her tormentors must wait until dark to play out this psychological thriller’s chilling conclusion.

Directed by The Players long-time Artistic Director, Joe Viser, the cast is a powerful ensemble of experienced actors as well as several new faces, including Randall Packer, Havana Puerta, and Sedric Willis.

“Carole Lamont does such a convincing job as a woman who has been blinded in an auto accident,” said Viser. “It is through her vulnerabilities that the audience experiences the real terrors of the story. Don’t leave early on this one!”

Tickets are currently available by calling the box office at the Owen Theatre at (936) 539-4090 Tuesday through Friday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm or online at www.PlayersTheatreCompany.com. The box office is also open two hours before each performance and the theatre is located at 225 Metcalf Street, Conroe.

The Players Theatre Company began in 1967 as The Little Theatre of Conroe utilizing the Conroe High School stage and later a refurbished plumbing supply store at the corner of Galveston and Robertson Streets. After helping to restore the historic Crighton Theatre in 1979, the group produced shows there for nearly 30 years as The Crighton Players. In 2008, in a partnership with the City of Conroe, The Players Theatre Company was formed and moved to their current residence at The Owen Theatre.
