The Players Theatre Company Presents Into the Woods

The Players Theatre Company Presents Into the Woods

James Lapine’s screenplay and Stephen Sondheim’s music are partnered seamlessly once again with the magic of Into the Woods. The Brothers Grimm fairy tales you know and love are beautifully intertwined in a new tale that challenges the audience to deeper understand these well known characters. Our main characters are The Baker (Kyle Clevenger and Alan Boudreaux), Little Red Riding Hood (Grace Schexnayder and Paxton Bourgeois), Jack (Austin Krueger and Samuel Nash), and Cinderella (Meredith Fisk and Sarah Wilkins). Of course, it would not be a fairy tale without a scheming, cunning Witch (Shananda Poulos and Kathleen Baker)!

The friendly Narrator (Beau Snortland) will navigate us through, you guessed it – the Woods, so we can follow the quest of The Baker and his Wife (Madison Mapes-Clevenger and Veronica Amandola) in hopes of starting a family. This quest will lead them to find four remarkable items that are in the possession of our other fairy tale characters. Along the way to acquiring all of the items, we will meet a wolf (Mandy Hall), two princes (Trevor Hall and Carson Rapsilver) and even a Giant (Keath Krueger)!

This story will seemingly tidy up in a “happily ever after” at the end of Act One, but join us in the second act to see the consequences of our characters’ desires and wishes materialize. This show is a beautiful masterpiece that encompasses a metaphor… or more!

Our Conroe twist, envisioned by innovative director Adam Isbell, was to double-cast this show meaning each character is split evenly between two actors! Production Assistant, Sara Winberry, concocted the perfect matrix that creates a unique combination of actors in each role for every performance so that no two performances will be the same!

Come out to the Owen Theatre in downtown Conroe, TX to see this exhilarating cast and enticing show! Into the Woods will run from May 10th to the 26th. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 PM and Sunday matinees begin at 2:00 PM. Tickets are on sale now at owentheatre.com or call the box office at 936.536.4090.
