STAGE RIGHT Presents the Enchanting Cinderella!

By Sara Preisler

The timeless classic Cinderella comes to the Crighton stage on October 18th and runs through November 3, 2019. Presented by Stage Right of Texas, this charming fairytale is sure to thrill and entertain audiences of all ages. The show’s memorable songs include “In My Own Little Corner”, “Ten Minutes Ago” and ‘’Impossible”. This production is directed by multiple Montie Award winner: Sara Preisler.

The musical follows the story of Cinderella, a kind hearted optimist, who has grown up in the most unfortunate of circumstances. Cinderella is constantly overworked and mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters, Joy and Grace. When the King and Queen announce a ball with every intention of finding the perfect woman to marry their son, Christopher, things start to look up for Cinderella. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, a magic wand and some glass slippers, will Cinderella get her prince Charming before the clock strikes 12?

Sara has put together a cast of extraordinary proportions to bring this fairytale to life. Leading the cast as Cinderella is Kathleen Baker. Audiences may remember her most recently as Grace in the Montie Award winning musical, Annie. Kathleen is reprising this role on the same stage seven years later. Playing her love interest is Lucas Olivarez. This is Lucas’ first theatre production, only previously having performed on the worship team at West Conroe Baptist Church, where he is now an ordained minister. Also a first-time theatre performer is Lucas’ sister, Christina Sato. Christina is playing the role of the Stepmother. Don’t be fooled by the cruelness and coldness of her character, off stage she is a friend to everybody and very involved in the community. The roles of her daughters, Grace and Joy, are played by Stage Right favorites Alexandra Casey and Madison Mapes. You may remember Alex as the shrill-voiced Lena Lamont in the Stage Right record breaker Singin’ in the Rain. Madison was most recently seen in 42nd Street and last season had audiences rolling as Logainne Schwartzy in The Player’s production of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. New to the Crighton Stage is Shananda Poulos. She is taking on the role of the Fairy Godmother and will give the audiences all the sass and attitude that they crave from this iconic role. Rounding out the cast of principle roles is the King’s Court made up of Rob Baker as the king, Martha Davis as the queen and Todd Brady as the faithful steward, Lionel. Martha and Rob make up a dynamic duo as the always bickering but ever loving King and Queen. Martha is back again after last starring in The Savannah Sipping Society, which took home Best Play at this year’s Montie Awards. Todd Brady will delight crowds again after his memorable appearance in Glitz! The Little Miss Christmas Pageant Musical.

Sara Preisler brings back many of the talented children that have graced the stage in past productions of hers. Austin Kreuger, Keegan Pepper, Keali Kreuger and Gabby Rickwalt who were all seen in A Charlie Brown Christmas (the highest attended and grossing show ever presented in Crighton history), come back to provide laughter to the audience. Camille Rickwalt, Amy Massey, Ava Czahor, Alexa Barreda and Alayna Yerian, who all played orphans in Annie, grace are back again. Alayna, just last month, won a Montie for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Molly.

Sara’s artistic team is made up of Cricket Pepper and Layne Roberts. Cricket is taking on the role of Stage Manager, Set Designer, Prop Mistress and Co-Choreographer. She last assisted with record-breaker Young Frankenstein as Assistant Director and Choreographer. Multiple award-winning actress Layne Roberts is Music and Assistant Directing in this production. Last month she swept the Monties, winning best Lead Actress and best Overall Performance by an actor or actress. This category consists of every acting category from lead, supporting and featured in a musical or play. Of course, if it’s a Preisler production, it can’t be done without outstanding costumer and mother, Debbie Preisler. Debbie really has her work cut out for her in this production as she will be making Cinderella’s transformation happen right in front of the audience.

Cinderella will be presented at the Historic Crighton Theatre (Recently named one of the top 10 venues in the state by BestThingsTx.com to see live theatre) located at 234 N Main Street, Conroe, Texas 77301. Performance Dates are October 18, 2019 – November 3, 2019 Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2 pm. An additional Saturday matinee has been added on November 2, 2019, also at 2pm.
