Lake Conroe Fishing Report

Black Bass: Cooler water temps have really made bass much more aggressive. They can be caught either on spinner baits, crank baits or plastic worms. Boat docks, rocks and shorelines that have stumps or logs are prime targets. Some bass can be holding in deeper structure such as submerged pond dams or roadbeds.

Crappie: This is a prime time of year to fish for crappie as they can be caught on minnows or small jigs fished along the pilings of the 1097 Bridge or brush in 15’ – 20’ depths. Some crappie can also be found under boat docks if they have any depth beneath them and brush.

White Bass & Hybrid Striped Bass: At this time of year these fish sometimes school together over main lake humps and points and can be caught by trolling pet spoons or bouncing slab spoons near the bottom in 20’ – 30’ depths. It is a good idea to search for these fish with your electronics before working the area.

Catfish: Catfish action during this time of year can be great. With the change of the season, larger cats are much more aggressive. Just bait up an area along the river or creek channel with milo or range cubes and use either chicken liver, shrimp or dip baits and get ready for some great action and good eating fish.
