Taking Tex Mex to the Next Level

Attention to detail in food, atmosphere and service make dining at Hacienda Mis Padres a culinary delight

In a region where Mexican and Tex Mex restaurants are as plentiful as pine trees and pickups, it’s tough to stand out from the crowd ? but one man continues to defy the odds.

Hacienda Mis Padres ? Spanish for the “House of My Parents” ? is a specialty restaurant concept created by Juan Rodriguez, founder of the popular El Bosque restaurants located throughout Montgomery County. The eatery has developed a strong following among area residents who appreciate great food, a relaxing atmosphere and friendly, personable service.

“Hacienda Mis Padres is a tribute to my family and their life in Mexico,” said Juan. “The design is based on Mexico’s picturesque colonial architecture and the food is prepared fresh every day from the best ingredients.”

With successful El Bosque restaurants in Conroe, Montgomery, Shenandoah and Lake Conroe, Juan decided to create a new dining concept to honor his heritage ? one that was more upscale, but without being pretentious.

“There are many similarities to our El Bosque restaurants, but a few subtle differences as well,” said Melissa Rodriguez, marketing manager. “I think the atmosphere is a little nicer, the presentation a little better and our service top notch.”

Order guacamole at most restaurants and a glob of what they have shows up on a plate. Not so at Hacienda Mis Padres. Here guacamole is prepared tableside with a bit of showmanship ? and patrons can customize the taste and texture to their personal preference.

“We love interacting with our customers,” said Melissa. “If people have special requests, we do our best to accommodate them.”

The restaurant also puts a modern spin on classic Tex Mex favorites. Fajita lovers ? and there are a lot of them out there because it’s the favorite of customers week in and week out ? have a lot of choices. Diners can choose fajitas made with beef, chicken, shrimp, sausage, veggies or mushrooms, or a combo platter with more than one choice.

Fans of traditional Mexican and Tex Mex cuisine can enjoy the same flavorful specialties they know and love. The enchiladas, chalupas and fajita platters have all of the rich flavor one would expect.

But Hacienda Mis Padres’ extensive menu offers a variety of salads, steaks and other selections to appeal to even the most finicky eaters. Not in the mood for Mexican? No problem.

“A lot of people are counting calories or worried about their cholesterol,” said Juan. “We have added more selections so they have more options.”

And while most people have favorite Mexican and Tex Mex foods, Hacienda Mis Padres encourages customers to try new selections with specially priced daily specials. Add a delicious margarita from the restaurant’s full bar and the party has just begun. It’s a great night out with family or friends ? and a nice place to conduct business.

“Our Fiesta Room is available for private parties and special events,” said Melissa. “We can host up to 60 people comfortably for private functions.”

For bigger parties, Hacienda Mis Padres features a stunning covered patio area complete with water fountain and a dedicated full bar setup. The facility can comfortably accommodate groups up to 150 people.

In addition to takeout service, Hacienda Mis Padres also offers catering service for groups up to 200 in size with free delivery. The great taste of classic Mexican and Tex Mex fare is a big step up from cold sandwiches or boring buffets.

“The response to our catering has really exceeded our expectations,” said Melissa. “People love to spice things up with a change of pace ? and we love serving happy people.”
