Pelican Cove Takes Flight
Great dining & entertainment is just the start of what’s coming to Lake Conroe’s north side

There is an oasis of convenience, refreshment and entertainment on the north end of Lake Conroe ? and it’s only going to get bigger, better and more exciting in the months to come.
The all new, totally renovated Pelican Cove Restaurant & Bar is the latest “must visit” destination on Lake Conroe ? featuring great family style dining, with views of a Lake Conroe and a fun, festive atmosphere when the sun goes down.
“We have big plans to greatly expand the range of activities and services available on the north end of Lake Conroe,” said owner Saud Niazi. “The bar and restaurant on the second floor overlooking the water are in place now and area residents and visitors will see our expansion into other areas in the near future.”
While the family business includes a number of fast food and convenience store locations throughout the greater Houston area, Pelican Cove has been created to be something new and different from their other retail operations. A step up in entertainment.
The Pelican Cove complex is already impressive. The first floor of the waterfront location features a full service convenience store with gas and all of the snacks, sundries and supplies one would expect, and a few that might surprise visitors.
“In addition to gas, beer, drinks and food, we also have fishing gear, cowboy boots and hats, and gift items,” said complex manager Alex Eguia. “We also rent boat, kayak, canoe and jet ski rentals as well as a boat launch, a dock area and lots of great parking.”
Pretty much everything one needs for a day on Lake Conroe can be found at the facility, but the real emphasis is upstairs at the bar and restaurant complex. The space has been totally renovated into a modern entertainment venue with a full bar, multiple televisions, weekly live entertainment and an expansive ? and interesting ? menu.
“We want to offer a casual atmosphere in which families are comfortable dining,” said Niazi, “but we also want to transition into a fun place to enjoy spending time with friends at night.”
Indeed, the menu is both interesting and expansive, including soups, salads, appetizers, sandwiches and burgers ? lots of different burgers. But the menu also has a decidedly Mediterranean flavor as well.
“We also feature gyros, falafel, kabobs and other ethnic fare,” added Niazi. “There aren’t any other restaurants in the area specializing in Mediterranean and shawarma style food, so we wanted to offer something unique ? and delicious.”
The concept is proving popular and Niazi says the restaurant menu is likely to serve as a prototype for future eateries specializing in Mediterranean and shwarma cuisine.
“We’re also looking at have special nights featuring belly dancers and other live entertainment,” said Niazi. “We want our patrons to enjoy themselves and have some fun.”
For those interested in even more Middle Eastern culture, visitors to the Pelican Cove Restaurant & Bar can rent large hookah pipes with the option of various flavors of tobacco, something most Texans have never seen, much less experienced.
And while the family business at Pelican Cove is already impressive, there’s more to come. According to Niazi, plans include construction of a new 140 slip marina complex to accommodate a wide range of watercraft.
“We anticipate having the marina available in early 2019,” he said. “Our goal is to make this a popular venue for area residents and a preferred destination for visitors to the area. We’ve invested a lot of time and energy to get where we are now, but there is a lot more we want to do.”
