More and more women are giving shooting for sport and hunting a try. Shooting is an activity they can participate with husbands, children and other ladies. Mom doesn’t have to be left out any longer. Shooting ranges are starting to see more women get started with lady’s leagues and women-only classes and competitions. All shooting activities available to men are also open for women as well. Handguns, Rifles and Shotguns are available for women or can be fit for small sizes. Lighter load shells can be found as well to help reduce recoil. Shooting is a sport that even the unathletic can excel at. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, women hunters have increased by 85 percent (from 1.8 million in 2001 to 3.3 million in 2013); and during the same time period, women target shooters by 60 percent (3.3 million to 5.4 million). Ladies, be sure to find someone to help you get started shooting who knows how to work with beginners. Your local gun club is a great resource to find a good shooting instructor. So, ladies, get out there and start shooting!
