Lake Conroe Fishing Report

Black Bass:  Now that we are getting a taste of fall, bass action is getting better each and every day.  Many of the coves and backs of creeks are producing decent action by fishing plastic worms, spinner baits or shallow running crank baits along any of the cover in these areas.  Boat docks, stumps and any rock structure can be good cover to hold bass.

Crappie:  Better crappie action is showing up as the season changes.  Minnows and jigs are both picking up some good slabs around the 1097 Bridge and brush piles in 12’ – 20’ depths.

White Bass & Hybrid Striped Bass:  During this time of year to locate and catch those fish I start out by trolling pet spoons along the tops of main lake humps and points in 18’ – 25’ depths.  These fish are constantly moving, so try different areas until they can be located.  Sometimes different times of the day can be when they are the most active, so it might be a good idea to backtrack some of the areas you have already fished.

Catfish:  Catfish action at this time of year really starts to heat up as the water temp drops.  Larger catfish get much more aggressive and can be caught under the 1097 Bridge or along the creek and river channel is 15’ – 25’ depths.  Best baits are shrimp, chicken liver or dip baits on sponge hooks.
