FISHING FORECAST:
2022 so far has been one of the best years for fishing in recent memory. Typical summer patterns are now consistently producing fish in all parts of the lake. These patterns should continue to provide outstanding action in weeks ahead. Lake Livingston consists of over 90,000 acres of water and 450 miles of shoreline.
SPECIES REPORT:
Black Bass {largemouth} –
Mostly post spawn fish now taking soft plastic creature baits inside the cuts of major creeks. Fish to five lbs. taken recently in Carolina Creek on black and red crank baits fished under boathouses. Several good fish caught recently in Bethy Creek near the marina flipping boat docks with soft plastic. Medium diving crank baits in sexy shad and chartreuse blue are taking fish off mid lake rocky points and off points in White Rock and Bethy Creeks.
Catfish –
Blue Cats to 5 lbs. have been feeding on shad early near mid and lower lake points. Fish are still being caught early in good numbers on fresh shad fished 2’ down under a cork. Good fishing for big Blue Cats on drifted shad mid lake and lower lake regions. Great action now for Blue Cats on rod and reel baited with shad fished in the river channel. Jug line fishing for Blue Cats has been good in the Bays when the wind is blowing.
Crappie –
Excellent Crappie now coming out of Bethy, Harmon and Bedias Creeks in clear and tea colored water. Also some good Crappie coming out of lower lake boathouses. Best bait has been live minnows 4-6’ on a slip cork.
White Bass –
Concentrations of Whites showing up on mid and lower lake humps where they are being caught in good numbers on white jigging slabs off the bottom. Hybrids over 18” are being caught along with the Whites.
