Founded in 2006 by Luke and Karla Redus, Compassion United provides a comprehensive slate of services to the community, including day client services like food, transportation to essential appointments, laundry, and showers, as well as transitional housing, at-risk youth programs, grocery distribution, and more.
“Events like the Gala are an essential piece of our fundraising efforts. It’s a fun night, a special event and it also allows us to cover operating expenses and continue providing these life-changing services to hurting people in our community,” says Compassion United’s Communications Director. This year’s event will continue to focus on the organization’s effort to increase capacity by constructing transitional housing, while also highlighting exciting new programs that will increase their already remarkable rate of success.
For more information or to purchase tickets visit www.compassionunited.us.
About Compassion United:
Compassion United began as a family effort, when Luke and Karla Redus decided to feed the homeless in their city. The couple and their kids bought simple ingredients, prepared breakfast tacos and headed into downtown Conroe. The mission was initially to simply feed people, but they quickly realized the need was much greater.
What began as a single initiative to feed the homeless has evolved into the most comprehensive support organization in Montgomery County. Almost two decades later, their commitment to serving people remains central to everything they do, but the focus has grown into a more precise and dynamic mission: outreach, relief, and empowerment.
