Press Release: Carriage Inn Resident Celebrates Success

CONROE, TX – Carriage Inn Resident Celebrates Success

Longtime Conroe resident, Earl Roberts, is an accomplished musician who has maintained an active, healthy lifestyle at the Carriage Inn senior living community he has called home for many years. Earl stays well-connected with his Carriage Inn friends and those in the local area, enjoying social gatherings, fitness opportunities, events, programs, and all the
community has to offer. But when challenges from Parkinson’s disease began to compromise his balance and dexterity, he slowly started withdrawing from the social and leisure activities he loved and struggled to prevent falls while managing his independence.
“Earl has been very independent and involved in our community,” said Executive Director, Rosetta Day. Day shared that Roberts is well known for his extensive musical experience in guitar, mandolin, dobro, and banjo and loves sharing this with others. He even wrote and produced an album of original songs. “We have always been impressed by Earl’s drive and motivation,” Day continued, “so when we began to notice changes in his routine and abilities, we were genuinely concerned.” Day partnered with Roberts to connect him with a team from Powerback Rehabilitation to You, which worked with him regularly to develop a comprehensive plan for regaining strength and independence. Fully committed to his
occupational and physical therapy visits, Roberts worked tirelessly in his regular sessions to gain independence and reengage in community activities.
Powerback Therapist, Wendy Welch, OTR/L, DOR, praised Roberts’s persistence and determination, noting that he never missed a visit. “He now uses his walker correctly and consistently, and has developed better awareness of fall risk factors,” said Welch. “He has become more intentional and thoughtful with transitional movements, and we have seen huge improvements in his medication management strategies.”
Earl’s hard work and genuine desire to gain his independence, coupled with the encouragement of family members and support from the Carriage Inn team, has led to great success. Recently, he celebrated over five months of being fall-free while living independently at Carriage Inn. “We have an amazing resource network available to residents at Carriage Inn,” said Day. “Partnerships with teams like Powerback enable residents to maintain their independence with access to assistance with daily living activities. Most importantly, residents can stay connected to our community, while receiving services and support.” Roberts’s daughter, Sandy Phillips has been happy with the results, “We are thrilled with his progress! There is a marked difference in Dad’s safety since starting therapy.”
