Viva la Vida Festival & Parade

Mexic-Arte Museum's 43rd annual Viva la Vida Festival & Parade, Austin's largest and longest-running Día de los Muertos event, opens with a Grand Procession down historic 6th Street to 4th and Congress. This year's theme is la ofrenda, with artist-commissioned ofrenda pieces carried in the parade and assembled on the stage. The Mariposa Plaza offers hands-on art, traditional food, local artists, a low-rider exhibition and live performances.
Saturday, Oct. 24: procession at noon; festival until 6 PM. Admission: free.
