Historical Purposes

The perfect time to start journaling is during a rough period in your life. Due to the impact of Coronavirus, everyone will be feeling the burden. Starting a journal during this time period will give you something to point back to for your future kids. You can show them exactly what it was like during this time period and how it affected your day. Not only that, but it can serve as a clear record of events during your life and help you remember important details. Start journaling because you want to remember the past and keep it fresh in your mind. Historical accuracy is one of the best reasons to keep a journal.

Give you time to reflect and improve your mental health

Journaling, the majority of the time, is reflecting on our past actions and choices. It gives us time to consider our actions and consequences. One of the reasons journaling is so useful is that it always puts our thoughts into concrete words that make sense. Before telling our dreams and hopes to another, we can dissect why we believe the way we do. Maybe you want to reflect on what a camping trip or road trip meant to you and how it changed your life. Having a roadmap to who you became can be very helpful and fun to look back on. It doesn’t matter how you start journaling either. Whether in a cheap journal or an expensive leather-bound one, all that matters is that you write.

When you start journaling it can have a calming effect on you. It can release the stress and tension built up over the day. When you journal you only have a focus on you. This has many mental health benefits and can help you process your emotions in a clear, easy to explain way. Or your emotions can remain complicated, but at least you have it all laid out on paper.

Improve your writing skills

How else are you going to get better at writing if you don’t write? Writing is tough, and to write well…that’s another matter entirely. I’ve been at this writing thing for several years and I still don’t have it mastered. Writing and starting a journal takes time. The important thing about writing and starting a journal is you don’t have to filter yourself. Unlike submitting a paper or paperwork at your job, it’s all about what you want to make it. All you need to do is is start writing and you will see your authentic voice improve and become more efficient in what you want to express.

Put words to something that is bothering you

Are you in a foul mood but not sure why? Start journaling to find out! Oftentimes when something is bothering us we have a hard time expressing ourselves. With journaling, you can start from the beginning and go from there. You can write down situations and people that are making you upset. It’s good to ramble on as well, as that can lead to more territory to explore in your writing. Don’t settle for letting it all be stuck in your head. Get it on paper.

Put your journal online

Essentially, start a blog with your personal thoughts. It can be a great way to build relationships and a personal audience. Just make sure you are not sharing anything that is too private with the world unless you are fine with it. The internet is forever and it does not forget. If you do get a big enough following with it you can even make money online.
