Letters from the Editor: October 2023

It is official, we have now entered into the most wonderful time of the year. The month of October has so much more to offer than just my favorite spooky holiday. Here are some of the amazing things I found out about our favorite month. Even though the days are getting shorter and should be getting cooler, we are reaping the benefits of the passing summer. October is known as the best harvesting month for many crops including apples, carrots, corn, grapes, onion, potatoes and squash. Oh, and obviously pumpkins too! The opal is the birthstone of October. It is the only birthstone that isn’t crystalized and can take on many shapes and colors which perfectly coincides with this month’s spooky theme. The World Series always begins this month. The flower of the month is Marigold which symbolizes comfort, healing and protection and is said to resemble the fall sunset and changing of the leaves. This month’s calendar has some strange but understandable marked days. October 2nd is International Coffee Day. October 8th is National Kick Butt Day. October 15th is National Grouch Day and October 29th is National Cat Day. Last, but not least we have the calendar finale, the granddaddy of spooky days, All Hallows Eve aka Halloween on October 31 st . Hopefully now you can see why this is one of my favorite months. We hope everyone has a chance to explore our community and shop local.

Until next month,

GT2, Bentley, & Ellie
