Lighting of the Doves

The Lighting of the Doves Festival is a long-standing tradition in The Woodlands that signifies the start of the holiday season in the community. Symbolizing peace during the holidays, the ceremonial illumination of the giant doves has attracted thousands of visitors each year.

The Festival includes traditional and international performances, showcasing the cultural diversity of The Woodlands and holiday traditions celebrated around the world. Featuring snow play areas, vendor booths, children’s activities and strolling entertainment, Lighting of the Doves culminates with a special appearance by Santa Claus arriving by sleigh down The Woodlands Waterway and a dazzling fireworks display.

YMCA Run Through The Woods

TIME: First run starts at 7:30AM

A local Thanksgiving morning tradition, YMCA Run Thru the Woods has supported local non-profits with the goal of strengthening The Woodlands, Spring and Oak Ridge communities for over 30 years. The event brings thousands of community members together for entertainment and run/walks designed for all ages. Whether you’re a veteran runner or participating in your first race, we have an event for you, including a 3-mile run, 5-mile run, 3-mile walk, and 1-Mile Kids Race. Strollers are welcomed. Start/Finish Line are located on Lake Robbins in front of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, our race venue host.

All participants will receive a goodie bag, t-shirt and finisher medal. Post race activities include complimentary refreshments, kids activities and more.

If you love to dress up for races, we encourage you to do so! Take pictures, tag us on social media and share them with our Race Director.

2nd Saturday at The Depot

Join us for the last 2nd Saturday event of the year on Saturday, November 11 to view a movie about a grumpy Grinch who plots to ruin Christmas for everyone in Whoville in “The Grinch”. The movie starts at dusk (about 5:30PM) but gets there early for some kid-friendly activities, a scavenger hunt (while supplies last), and a surprise visit from a grumpy green character.
Grab lawn chairs, blankets and your favorite snacks and head to the Tomball Depot Plaza for family fun. (Snow cones and hot chocolate will be available for sale.)
