The Woke Olympics: God Is Not Mocked

July 26, 2024 marked the 8th anniversary of the martyrdom of Catholic priest Jacques Hamel who was beheaded by Islamic State terrorists as he celebrated Mass at Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray church in Rouen, France. It was also the date of the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony, where France, the host, proceeded to entertain the world by mocking the largest religion in the world: Christianity. The assault on Christians continued.
The opening ceremony was a four-hour commercial in front of one of the largest worldwide television audiences possible – estimated at upwards of 1.5 billion people. Instead of showcasing their rich culture, art, or magnificent architecture, the French used this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to produce a shocking and tasteless display of “entertainment” that completely missed its mark. American Thinker said it best: “From an early ménage à trois hookup in the public library to the despicable mocking of the Last Supper by a cast of deviant trans characters to what looked like one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse sitting in front of the Eiffel Tower, almost the entire thing was a giant middle finger to the face of culture in general and Christianity in particular.”
Where we thought we were tuning in to watch the world’s athletes parade in their national dress or sports attire, were instead treated to a simultaneous fashion show with the kind of garbage display that included a catwalk full of drag queens, a naked man painted blue from head to toe with a small covering of his genitals, and voguing dancers in varying stages of undress. According to French progressives and the liberal media, the message of the opening ceremony was clearly one of “freedom.” To the rest of us, the opener was loaded with offensive and irrelevant distractions that made us wonder why we were
interested in the Olympics at all.
The Olympics are supposed to be apolitical. A venue showcasing human achievement, human competition, and most importantly, the human spirit. Unlike they’d have you believe, the opening ceremony was not a tribute to the Greek god Dionysus, the god of wine. The ceremony was a clear attempt to push LGBT+ ideology and deviancy into the mainstream world. They said so themselves! It was an “in your face”, “we’re here to stay” declaration that included drag queens impersonating the apostles and a female Jabba the Hut entrenched in the center as Christ the Redeemer. The left felt safe in mocking what they hate: Christianity. The performance was so offensive that not just Catholics from around the world, but Muslim leaders and Buddhist leaders decried the assault on Christianity. A Mississippi-based telecommunications and technology company, C Spire, cut ties with the Games after the shameful mockery by what is supposedly a “Christian” country. Not to be outdone, our own progressive First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden (and wife of our Catholic President), attended the opening ceremony and was cool with its scorn. She said, “So, last night, it was just spectacular. The rain did not dampen our spirits…Every step of the way, I was thinking to myself, oh my god, oh my god. How are we going to top this?”
The ceremony was about “inclusion” and “celebrating community tolerance,” the creators later chimed. When the architects of the opening ceremony confirm to the public that their artistic interpretation was directly inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper, it proves that it was an attempt to completely deride the Christian faith; an odd thing to ridicule in a country where cathedrals are being set on fire and priests are being stabbed and beheaded by Muslim fanatics.
The 2028 Olympic Games are coming to the United States. The next stop is Los Angeles, California. What will the war on our faith and traditional values look like in four years? At the moment, it seems like it knows no bounds. But truth and virtue will always prevail. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for what things a man shall sow, those also shall he reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
