About Dock Line Magazine
Founded in 2001 as a small print publication serving the Lake Conroe area, Dock Line Magazine has grown into a digital first community platform serving readers across Montgomery County, the Greater Houston region, and beyond.
For more than two decades, we have covered local businesses, events, community stories, and public accountability issues that matter to taxpayers.
Dock Line is privately owned and independently operated, with more than 30 years of combined experience in publishing, advertising, and customer engagement.
Independence matters to us. So does transparency.
Ownership and Structure
Dock Line Magazine is a privately owned media company.
We operate two core functions:
Editorial and Publishing
Responsible for reporting, content creation, and editorial decisions.
Advertising and Digital Marketing
Responsible for paid advertising campaigns, including digital ads, geofencing, video production, and promotional services.
These functions operate separately.
Advertisers do not control, review, or influence editorial reporting.
Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are made by our editorial team based on relevance, public interest, and community impact.
We report using publicly available documents, verified sources, and documented records.
Advertising relationships do not guarantee favorable coverage, prevent scrutiny, or influence investigative reporting.
Public officials, candidates, and advertisers may be subjects of coverage. That coverage is not negotiated or sold.
Paid Content and Labeling Policy
Transparency in paid content is essential.
When political campaigns, businesses, or organizations purchase advertising or sponsored content:
• Paid content is clearly labeled
• Campaign announcements are identified as paid for by the campaign
• Sponsored posts are marked accordingly
Editorial articles are not paid placements.
Interviews conducted by Dock Line are not sold as editorial coverage.
Campaign finance reports may list payments for advertising or digital marketing services. Those services are separate from editorial reporting.
Conflict of Interest Standards
We recognize that perception matters.
If a subject of editorial coverage is also a paying advertiser:
• Paid content remains labeled
• Editorial coverage is based on documented facts and public record
• Advertisers are not granted editorial review or approval
We are committed to documenting and strengthening these standards as our accountability reporting expands.
Our Commitment to Readers
Local journalism should:
• Ask fair questions
• Cite public records
• Correct errors when necessary
• Welcome dialogue
• Remain independent
Trust is earned over time through consistency and documentation.
We welcome constructive feedback and open conversation about how we can continue improving transparency and credibility.
