Dynamic Duo
If you recognize the names Fallon Clepper and Wyatt Ford, it’s for good reason. This version of High School Bass Fishing’s “Dynamic Duo” are definitely leaving a legacy.
In previous articles you learned that Fallon and Wyatt are former Anglers of the Year in the highly competitive Texas High School Bass Association, as well as being an integral part of the success of the MISD Fishing Team. They, along with a handful of other MISD Fishing Team members decided to dip their toes in another High School circuit this past Saturday, as the Bass Federation held a tournament for High School Anglers on Lake Conroe.
Fallon and Wyatt not only dipped their toes in, they went fully submerged, as they blew away the field with an outstanding limit weighing over 25 pounds. Captained by “Local Legend” Julian Clepper, Fallon and Wyatt had a strong day, culling up many times for their final five. Julian said that the pair fished “flawlessly,” and went on to say that “they were looking at them with their Hobie Sightmasters.” He went on to indicate that “soft plastic creature baits played a big role.” Knowing Fallon and Wyatt, I’m sure that meant they had Strike King Rage Craws rigged on St. Croix Rods!
Also doing well for MISD, securing 2nd place were Cade Lipham and Will Collora. These Lake Creek Seniors brought a 5 fish limit to the scales that weighed in at 17.15 pounds. Will stated “that we were primarily Bed Fishing, with a Strike King Rage Menace doing most of the damage for us.”
The big fish of the tournament was caught by the Team of Preston Burch and Andrew Wilson. Andrew caught the 7 pound 9 ounce Beauty on a soft plastic creature bait off of a spawning bed as well.
The TBF Tournament Director Joey Bray reported that “100% of the Bass weighed in this High School event were released alive back into Lake Conroe.” He also stated that “he and the Bass Federation thoroughly enjoyed their stay in Lake Conroe this week, and look forward to a return.”
