CONROE, TEXAS – The Conroe Family Medicine Residency Program (CFMR),
celebrated its 39 th graduating class of resident physicians during a ceremony at Lone Star

the incoming class of 12 new resident physicians.

“Part of the mission of Lone Star Family Health Center is preparing tomorrow's family
medicine professionals,” said Karen Harwell, CEO of Lone Star Family Health Center.
“CFMR attracts thousands of the best medical school graduates from across the world
that come to train and take care of our patients in Conroe under the supervision of highly
qualified supervising physicians.”

CFMR is a program sponsored by the Conroe Medical Education Foundation and jointly
operated by Lone Star Family Health Center and HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe. The
program began in 1979, has graduated over 280 residents since inception and is fully
accredited by the accreditation council of graduate medical education (ACGME).

“Residents trained in programs like ours, a community-based program treating mainly
underserved patients, are more likely to work in underserved areas after graduation and
be involved in public policy and advocacy efforts relating to their patients,” said Dr. Lata
Joshi, program director of Conroe Family Medicine Residency. “Our unique approach to
physician training magnifies the positive economic impact on the healthcare system as a
whole.”

Resident physicians receive full spectrum “hands-on” training in a congenial and collegial

advanced concepts in the medical field.
