East 1488 Emergency Preparedness Fair
WHERE: Home Depot Parking Lot, 6119 FM 1488, off Egypt Lane, East of HWY 2978 Â Â WHEN: May 18

The fair featured an emergency demonstration that displayed how East 1488 CERT officials might respond during a disaster. Each year, beginning in 2010, the East 1488 CERT has sponsored an Emergency Preparedness Fair near the beginning of Hurricane Season. At booths residents receive information to help them prepare for disasters and emergencies and learn about the CERT program. First responders and CERT members give demonstrations with additional preparedness information. First responders are also available to answer questions and residents can tour emergency vehicles. Experts also explained different survival techniques such as preparing a food and medical kit and how to properly dispose of sanitary waste if the water gets shut off. There will also be a Kid’s Workshop and Giveaways.
