SJRA’s Public Communications Department was awarded the Watermark Award on April 13th at Texas Water 2023 Conference held in Houston. SJRA won the award for its completely revamped website. The website and branding that went along with it was a year long project that helped make the website more user-friendly and aesthetically appealing. This award speaks volumes to the excellence within the Public Communications Department and the dedication the department had to making the website clearer and more concise for constituents.
SJRA also was awarded multiple awards for wastewater treatment facilities. These include the WEAT Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Year Awards (for Categories 1 and 2), as well as, the NACWA Platinum Peak Performance Award. The main component for winning all these awards is compliance. SJRA has won Treatment Plant of the Year and Platinum Peak Performance several times throughout the years. This highlights how seriously SJRA’s wastewater workers take compliance, and their consistency throughout the years.
The next award that SJRA was awarded was the WEAT Exemplary Employer Award which is awarded to Texas employers that support and facilitate employee involvement within WEAT and WEF organizations. This award shows that SJRA supports its staff in further engagement to learn more about the water industry through various activities with WEAT and WEF organizations. SJRA is continually supporting the professional growth and development of its employees.

The TAWWA Exemplary Source Water Protection Award is awarded to a water system that goes above and beyond to protect the water source, whether surface water or groundwater.
