Fruits of the Spirit: Kindness
Part 5 of 9 in our Fruits of the Spirit poetry series — a quiet meditation on kindness from Galatians 5:22–23.
Fruits of the Spirit — a Dock Line poetry series reflecting on Galatians 5:22–23. Part 5 of 9.
In this series, each poem listens for how love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control show up in ordinary life—with the Lord interrupting hurry, worry, and noise to speak a quieter word.
I was busy fretting about my problems
When the Lord showed up
And asked if I’d like to talk
And stop worrying for a minute
And take a breath from the stress
And cares of this world
And so we sat and He spoke,
“Kindness can be found in my hands”, He said,
“And it can be found in yours too
Your hands can reach out, on purpose,
To love and take care of those around you
Your hands can stretch out and serve
And “die to self” for someone else
Your hands can create and build up
Bringing forth something bigger than you dreamed
Your hands can gather people together
So you can remind yourself, you are never alone”
He said, “Kindness can be found in my hands yes,
But, kindness is waiting on you”
