Myth vs. Reality: Who Can Actually Get Dental Implants

Age, dentures, bone loss, and diabetes do not automatically rule out implants. How ClearChoice in The Woodlands evaluates candidacy. Plus an exclusive Dock Line reader offer.

A lot of people never ask about dental implants because they have already decided they will not qualify. Too old. Too many years in dentures. Not enough bone. Diabetes. They waited too long.

Often that decision was never actually made by a specialist. For people in The Woodlands, Conroe, Magnolia, Montgomery, Spring, Tomball, and North Houston, a consultation is how you find out which of those worries are real. Schedule a consultation at ClearChoice Dental Implant Center in The Woodlands, or call (832) 409-2261.

Age, by itself, is not the test

Age rarely rules someone out. What matters is overall health, the bone that is there, and whether you can heal. Patients in their 60s, 70s, and 80s get implants. Many of them spent years fighting loose dentures. The change they describe is practical: eating, speaking, and smiling without managing a plate.

A long time in dentures is not automatic disqualification

Denture wearers often assume they missed the window. Implants are frequently planned for exactly that history. Bone loss is common after years without teeth, and it can make the case harder. It does not, by itself, end the conversation. Advanced planning is how the team finds out what is still possible. Many ClearChoice patients started by asking for something other than the denture they already had.

If you have been told you waited too long, get a current evaluation. Call (832) 409-2261 or schedule a consultation online.

Bone loss complicates treatment. It does not write the verdict

When a tooth is gone, the jaw no longer gets the stimulation of a root, and the bone can shrink. That is common. It is also why a scan matters more than a guess. At 1111 Medical Plaza Drive in The Woodlands, the evaluation looks at bone quality and the treatment that fits that scan. Candidacy is not something to settle from a story you heard, or from a pamphlet.

Implants are not only for one missing tooth

They can replace one tooth, several teeth, a full upper arch, a full lower arch, or a mouth of failing teeth. For someone facing another round of extractions, bridges, or a new denture, that range is the point of the consult. The plan is clinical. It is not one price and one method for every mouth.

A health condition is a reason to plan, not a closed door

Diabetes, controlled heart disease, high blood pressure, and a history of gum disease all need a real look. None of them automatically bars treatment. The consult is where your health, your medications, and your mouth get sorted together, sometimes with your physician. Do not cross yourself off the list before that conversation. Schedule a consultation or call (832) 409-2261.

They should not look like a costume

Today’s restorations are planned to match a face, not a stock smile. Materials and digital planning are how the teeth are shaped and shaded. Plenty of people cannot pick an implant tooth out of a photograph. That is the standard to ask about, not a promise that every case looks identical.

Who actually decides

ClearChoice in The Woodlands pairs surgery with restorative dentistry, instead of sending you between offices to guess.

Dr. Vrinda Mohunta, MS, BDS, FACP, leads the restorative side. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists and a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, and she has been published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implantology. She also treats complex cases, including patients who initially believed they were not eligible for dental implants.

Dr. William Paulo, DMD, MS, is the associate prosthodontist. He trained at Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry and in advanced prosthodontics for complex restoration. He also served as a project lead with the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center.

To have that team look at your mouth, not your assumptions, call (832) 409-2261 or book online.

The ClearChoice network says it has helped restore smiles for more than 200,000 patients. One missing tooth or a full arch, the evaluation is still individual.

Cost and the warranty

Financing is available through third-party providers for qualified patients. The consult is where the plan, the cost, and those options get named. Call (832) 409-2261 or schedule that visit online.

Qualifying zirconia restorations carry a ClearChoice Lifetime Warranty. It applies to cracks or breaks in the zirconia arch only, not to complications with implant integration or ordinary wear and tear. The warranty will be void if the patient fails to follow clinician care instructions, receives treatment outside the ClearChoice network, or is dismissed as a patient. It is available at participating locations for treatment on or after March 21, 2025.

The myth that does the most damage

The costly one is “I already know I am not a candidate.” A lot of people who believed that found options after an exam. If you are living with missing teeth, loose dentures, failing work, or worry about bone loss, the next step is a consultation, not another year of guessing. Call (832) 409-2261 or schedule an appointment online.
