Lake Conroe Fishing Report – February 2021

Black Bass:  Even though we have had some cold weather this winter, a good number of bass are finding their way to the backs of protected creeks where they will be spawning in the upcoming weeks.  Boat docks, lay downs and brush in these areas are likely key targets to fish.  Spinner baits, plastic worms and crank baits are all good lures to use in this cover.

Crappie:  Crappie at this time of year can be caught both shallow and deep.  Deeper structures are bridge pilings, brush piles and boat docks.  The shallow cover ban be in the backs of protective coves around stumps, lay downs and the edges of boat dock pilings.  Minnows and small jigs are both good baits for these fish.

White Bass & Hybrid Striped Bass:  These fish will start grouping up in large schools and can be found roaming along main lake humps and points feeding on shad.  Trolling small pet spoons or bouncing heavy slab spoons near the bottom are two great ways to catch either of these fish.

Catfish:  With the water temperature being cold, these fish will be in deep water depths.  Dip baits fished along the edges of the river and creek channels or under the 1097 Bridge are good areas to fish.  Baiting up the area with range cubes will also increase your action.
