Robert Hauck – Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce 2020 Citizen of the Year

The Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce (GTACC) has recognized a citizen of the year since 1969, starting with G.W. Brautigam. The GTACC considers nominations of candidates that must live or work in the greater Tomball area, and their contribution to the community should be in civic, community, professional service, church involvement and/or service to the GTACC or other service organizations.

“We seek community leaders whose volunteer contributions have significantly benefited the greater Tomball area,” said GTACC President Bruce Hillegeist.

Robert Hauck was selected as the GTACC 2020 Citizen of the Year recipient by former Citizens of the Year and will be celebrated at the GTACC Annual Chairman’s Ball, which is to be held at a date yet to be determined.

Mr. Hauck has served Tomball first as Chief of the Tomball Police Department, then as Assistant City Manager, and is now currently Tomball’s City Manager. While he has gone above and beyond in those roles, he has also given his time to other organizations. He was President of TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries, as well as a Board Member with First Community Credit Union.

Mr. Hauck was a key component in how the Tomball community successfully responded to Hurricane Harvey and other severed weather events, bringing together Tomball’s emergency response teams.

He is a great supporter of the GTACC as well, attending and actively participating in many of chamber events. He has been the Chairman’s Ball emcee for many years and is an essential partner during Tomball Night, the Parade of Lights and the Annual Tomball Holiday Parade. He joins the GTACC Government & Legislative and Mobility & Transportation committee meetings and is always happy to provide updates regarding the Tomball community.

“Since first setting his feet in Tomball in 2008, and even prior to interviews for Chief of Police, Rob Hauck truly fell in love with Tomball. In his role as Chief and now as Tomball City Manager, Rob goes above and beyond his expected and paid duties,” stated Hillegeist. “Rob is true to the definition of ‘community concierge’ when it comes to his city employees, city residents, city guests and the area community of which he has chosen to serve.”

The GTACC is proud to recognize Mr. Rob Hauck and have his name added to the distinguished Citizen of the Year list.
