FISHING FORECAST:  The Lake is on the rise again with all the water coming into the lake as a result from all the recent rains to the north.  It has been since the early 1980’s  that the lake has reached these levels three times in the same year.  Moving water in the river will continue to roll into the lake providing an excellent bite for Blue Cats.  There are lots of ducks on the north end of the lake now with all the water.  Lake Livingston consists of over 90,000 acres of water and 450 miles of shoreline.

SPECIES REPORT:

Black Bass {largemouth} – Look for clear pockets of water in the upper lake creeks.  Fish up to five lbs. recently on “Charlie’s Flippin Bug” fished around boathouses.  Fish June Bug creature baits and Lizards around shallow brush and rocks on the north end.

Catfish – Fish fresh cut shad drifted on jug lines across the flats in Carolina, Bethy and Kickapoo Creeks.   Big Blue cats taking fresh cut shad on rod and reel in the river channel.

Crappie – Some Crappie being caught in the major creeks.  Bethy, White Rock and Harmon are all producing fish.  Best bites are in areas of clear water and during warming trends. Fish the log jams and lay downs with live minnows and jigs.  Best jig has been black and chartreuse tube jig rigged on a 1/16 oz. jig head.

White Bass – White Rock Creek, Nelson and Harmon Creeks have been slow.  The river channel is still off color however could produce some good catches of Whites in the next few weeks as it settles out considering no more run off.  Look for Whites to start showing up in the major creeks.

Duck Hunting – The excellent duck hunting this year should continue with all the “new” water flooding pastures and timber.  Good numbers of Wood Ducks, Mallards and Gadwall have dominated straps.  For duck hunters the rest of the season should be excellent.
