Conroe Symphony Orchestra Announces
25th Anniversary Concert: Music of the Silver Screen
Conroe Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will celebrate its Silver Anniversary Season with, Music of the Silver Screen, generously sponsored by Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts. The anniversary concert will bring back memories of sitting in your local movie theater, watching your favorites as music from the surround sound speakers ignites your senses.
The concert will feature fan favorites such as Back to the Future by Alan Silvestri; The Sound of Music by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein; Over the Rainbow arranged by Chuck Sayre and many more.
The CSO could not truly celebrate the Music of Silver Screen without a Tribute to John Williams. Williams is an American composer with some of the most recognized film scores in cinematic history including Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and the list goes on. He has won 25 Grammy Awards and received 52 Academy Award nominations in his lifetime. Concertgoers will recognize many pieces from favorite movies such as Raiders of the Lost Ark and more.
International music lovers will also delight in the sounds of Finlandia by Jean Sibelius and Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni during the night.
Fans of all ages will enjoy the sounds of the screen and a special surprise is once again in store for the audience.
The Conroe Symphony Orchestra is celebrating its 25th anniversary season under the direction of Gary Liebst. Liebst directed his first community group in 1992 and has never stopped. He has been conducting college and community orchestras, concert bands, and jazz ensembles for many years.
The CSO in partnership with Willis ISD Fine Arts Department will perform Music of the Silver Screen February 18, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. at the Willis ISD Performing Arts Center. The CSO is grateful for its sponsors who make their concerts possible: The City of Conroe, Spikes Group, Texas Commission of the Arts, Greater Conroe Arts Alliance, Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts, Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission and Montgomery County Community Foundation. The Conroe Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1997. The CSO was created to contribute to the cultural enrichment of the community, assuring a better quality of life for the Conroe area.
