Much to be Thankful For

The MISD Fishing Team has Much to be Thankful For.  For starters, they just completed their Fall Fishing Season perfectly, finishing in First Place in all three Texas High School Bass Association Tournaments they competed in.

The most recent tournament was a Spooktacular event, as the combined squad from both Lake Creek & Montgomery High Schools, scared the competition off Lake Livingston on Halloween.  Leading the way was the Fishing Firm of Gelske & Gelske, as the brothers Tyler and Colby Gelske brought in a limit weighing 11.48 pounds, to take 2nd place out of 144 Individual Teams from 23 Area High Schools.

Following closely behind in 3rd Place was the Team of Logan Beverung and Jack Shafer, bringing 11.37 pounds of Lake Livingston Bass to the scales.  Placing 9th was the Team of Jack Haag and Conner Callihan, bringing in 4 fish for 8.81 pounds.

These aforementioned anglers had a combined weight of 31.66 pounds, easily outdistancing the other 22 High School Teams.  As many of you readers are aware by now, the top 3 Teams from each High School/Team, have their totaled weights added together to determine the Overall School Champion.

Also doing well for MISD was Sofy Hartman, who came in 10th place with 3 fish tipping the scales at 8.70 pounds.  This was an impressive feat, as Sofy fished Solo for the event, fishing against teams of young men and women.  Ms. Hartman also reminded all us of the importance of competing to the end, as she caught her largest fish at exactly 2:58, only leaving 2 minutes to spare!

Another thing the MISD Team has much to be excited and pleased with, is the amount of Teams in the Top 10 for Anglers of the Year Race for the Houston Division of the THSBA.  Currently, the MISD Fishing Team has 4 Teams in the Top 10, with Cade and Kalie Lipham leading the way in 2nd Place.  Following closely behind in 4th are the teams of Fallon Clepper & Wyatt Ford, plus Colby and Tyler Gelske, locked in a tie for 4th.  Currently in the 6th position is the team of Jack Haag and Conner Callihan.

Lastly, the amount of Gratitude the Team has for the Parents, Captains, Sponsors, Administration and Staff from both High Schools, plus District Officials, as well as the Community as a whole, cannot be measured.  Without this tremendous support group, this Team would not exist, so we have Much to be Thankful For.
