Outdoor group activities are fun and can help you lose weight if you do them often enough. Having a support group that encourages you to engage in outdoor group activities can also make losing weight easier and help you make some friends along the way. Each of the activities listed below will help you sweat, and we have different options for people’s weight loss goals. You need to gather firewood, prepare your shelter, cook your own food, plan for cold weather, and much more! Camping has the benefit of being both physically challenging and mentally relaxing. You can gather supplies during the day and relax at night. You can also camp near your home at a local park, or at a national park. Also, you can always scale up the challenge of outdoor group activities like these. You can find more remote locations and stay longer.

However, if you are new to camping it is important that you go with an experienced group. Don’t try to do this with a bunch of newbies. Instead, ask family members for guidance and advice about this outdoor group activity.

Outdoor group exercise

If you are looking to lose weight on a consistent basis you probably will want to join an outdoor exercise group. These can be found just about anywhere. Check your local YMCA for outdoor classes and local social media as well. 

Try to find a class that is close to your home and fits your time schedule.

Swimming

Swimming is one of the best outdoor group activities, as it works your entire body in a controlled environment. You can lap in the pool or sign up for water aerobics. Most classes have music playing in the background so you can dance and swim at the same time!

This can be a great option for the elderly because it is a low impact activity. It can also be a great choice for parents as they can take their kids to the lessons.

Outdoor sports

Who doesn’t love a game of ultimate frisbee? Channel your inner kids by joining a local sports team. You can sign up for sports like:

If you consider yourself somewhat of a sleuth, then maybe a scavenger hunt is one of the best outdoor group activities you can be a part of.

Rock climbing

This is for those who are mobile and are relatively fit. Rock climbing is fun, but also dangerous. You’ll need to learn from a professional, and you need to practice safety at every turn. However, the views and thrill can be addicting. If you’re looking for a challenge then rock climbing is for you!
