Conroe Symphony Orchestra Announces Concert to Honor Veterans, America the Beautiful

Conroe Symphony Orchestra (CSO) continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary season with a special concert paying tribute to those who have served in the armed services. America the Beautiful will feature a special guest performance from The Victory Belles, ambassadors from the National World War II Museum.

“This concert was designed specifically to honor their service to our country and the sacrifices they have made,” Gary Liebst, CSO Director, said. “As far as musical highlights, we are thrilled to have our guest artists from the World War II Museum in New Orleans, The Victory Belles, join us for this concert. Their portion of the show should be a real highlight for the audience as they show off their vocal talents and present an Andrews Sisters style show.”

The concert will feature Patriotic favorites such as God Bless the USA/America arranged by Dean Smith; As Time Goes By Medley arranged by Reed; Service Salute/This is America arranged by David T. Clysdale and many more.

Liebst shared that the concert will also include some swing jazz music from the era. “I am really excited about the lineup of swing tunes for the coming concert,” he said. “If you are a fan of jazz swing music you will love our selections of tunes made popular by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman. I think our audience will love to hear these classic tunes from the Big Band Era.”

Fans of all ages will enjoy the patriotic music and salute to those who have served or are currently serving. The concert will be a wonderful combination of fun, toe tapping music as well as heartfelt, stirring patriotic selections that honor our veterans and our country.

America the Beautiful with special guests the Victory Belles is sponsored by Judge Jimmie Edwards and the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission. The CSO is grateful for the support of their sponsors who continue to allow the arts to be performed so close to home.

“We are so lucky to have the support of the CSO Board of Directors and The Friends of Symphony to make this kind of concert possible,” Liebst said. “We are thankful to Judge Jimmie Edwards and the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission for their financial support for this concert. They are the ones who agreed to sponsor The Victory Belles and we are most appreciative to be able to partner with them to bring this kind of entertainment to the citizens of Montgomery County and the surrounding areas.”

The CSO in partnership with Willis ISD Fine Arts Department will perform America the beautiful April 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Willis ISD Performing Arts Center. The CSO is grateful for its sponsors who make their concerts possible: The City of Conroe, Spikes Group, Texas Commission of the Arts, Greater Conroe Arts Alliance, Cullen Trust for the Performing Arts, Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission and Montgomery County Community Foundation.
