Description:

Disney Channel’s smash hit movie musical comes to life on your stage! Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.
It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical that is being led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
Disney’s High School Musical is fun for the whole family. Its large cast size and upbeat numbers make it the ideal show for middle and high school productions or the highlight of any community theatre’s season!Director’s Vision Statement:
I’m so excited to be directing High School Musical the Musical with you all this Fall! We’re sure to bring the house down with our wildcat spirit!
This show is a great opportunity for us to explore themes of first love, friendship, and following your dreams. It has all the elements of an amazing musical: upbeat songs, impressive dancing, and a heartwarming story! Our cast will need to be able to convincingly portray the thoughts, feelings, and appearance of high schoolers, including the challenges and experiences that come with navigating life at that age.  The show is set at East High School and follows the story of Troy Bolton, a basketball star who falls in love with Gabriella Montez, a new student who loves to sing. The two of them are from different social circles, but they overcome their differences to star in the school musical together. The show is full of energy and excitement, and it is sure to leave you feeling happy and inspired. My vision for this production is to create a show that is both heartwarming and hilarious. I want the audience to leave feeling uplifted, inspired, and energized. We have so many ways to show our audience some Wildcat spirit! This show gives us an amazing opportunity to say, “We should never be afraid to use our gifts and talents, and we should always be proud of who we are.”
Our show verse is Romans 12:4-6a, “4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”
My hope is that through this production we’re able to show our audience that each of us has unique gifts and talents that make us special. We all have something to offer the world, and our contributions are valuable. We all have the potential to make a difference in the world, and we should never underestimate our own worth. In order to achieve this vision, I’m going to need your help. I want you to bring your own unique talents and personalities to the roles you’re playing. I want you to be fearless and take risks. And most importantly, I want you to have fun!
I know we’re going to create something special together, Wildcats!
