Independence is on the Ballot in 2024

There is no more American holiday than the 4th of July! It is the quintessential “American” holiday, surpassing any of our other national secular holidays. As John Adams wrote “The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.” Of course, even the Declaration of Independence was subject to some amount of bureaucracy, and it wasn’t signed until the 4th not the 2nd. However, Mr. Adams prediction has held for the last 248 years, but all of that may be in jeopardy.

2024 marks the 248th anniversary of that great document, once referred to by President Biden as “you know… the thing.” Yet, Biden, and the Progressive/Socialist wing of the Democratic Party would like nothing more than for America to turn her back on everything that the Declaration espouses. Take a reflective look at the Democratic Party over the last 5 years:

They have embraced tyranny, suspending the rights of Americans “to keep them safe” from a disease that was engineered in a lab.

They have supported lawlessness and riots in American Cities across the nation, all in the name of racial division, but scream “Insurrection!” when misguided and upset. Republicans protested the election of Joe Biden on January 6th.

They have through mal-administration completely rolled back any effective countermeasures to stop illegal immigration into our country, and have ignored the law, allowing millions of unvetted illegal immigrants into our interior.

They have abandoned Afghanistan into the despotic hands of the Taliban, offering the people of Afghanistan a nightmare hellscape after 20 years of promising that we would defend them. They then abandoned $80 billion worth of military equipment to be seized by our enemies.

Through utter incompetence, wars and rumors of war abound around the world. Ukraine and Israel have been attacked without provocation due to Democrat weakness of America on the World stage. China may even invade Taiwan.

They have taken over our Colleges and Universities with antisemitic protests shouting irrationally “From the River to Sea!” without being able to even answer the question “What River? What Sea?”

They have weaponized the Justice System to go after their political rivals, and those people who intend to stop them.

They have ruined the best economy the world has ever seen.

In short, they have abandoned the rule of law, trampled the rights of our people, sacrificed world peace, and have taken the practice of using the justice system in the manner that only dictators use.

The Democrats have completely turned away from the principles laid down in the Declaration of Independence. What Jefferson masterfully crafted in three sentences amounts to perhaps the most profound political statement ever crafted by man.

“The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. 

Make no mistake, our American experiment cannot survive another four years under President Biden and the Democrats. Independence and Tyranny cannot both abide. We must fight (politically) for our continued Independence from government that would supplant our natural rights. For as Winston Churchill said “A great harmony exists between the Declaration of Independence and all we are fighting for now. A similar harmony exists between the principles of that Declaration and what the British Empire has wished to stand for and has at last achieved, not only here at home, but in the great self-governing Dominions through the world. The Declaration of Independence is not only an American document; it follows on the Magna Charta and the Petition of Right as the third of the great title deeds on which the liberties of the English-speaking race are founded.” He would go on to say ““The political conceptions embodied in the Declaration of Independence… spring from the same source; they come from the same well of practical truth.”

Western Civilization has been embracing Liberty and natural rights for 2,500 years, but it was July of 1776 that it achieved its magnus opus. That is what is at stake this November. So, enjoy the parades, fireworks, and campfires. Eat a hot dog, drink a cold beverage, but remember what it is all for. We don’t have to fight a revolution because we already have what was won, all we must do is keep it.
