Stage Right Presents: Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

Be our guest at the historic Crighton Theatre as Stage Right presents the beloved classic Disney’s Beauty and the Beast with music by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. This enchanting production is directed by Sara Preisler, who loves all things Disney as exhibited by her past Disney shows which have been staged with creativity and passion.  The Little Mermaid and Tarzan are prime examples of Sara’s ability to bring fantasy to life on the stage.  Choreographer Ellie Williams will surely create movement that will add to this fantasy.

Based on the 1991 Disney animated film, the story begins as a selfish and vain prince is transformed into a hideous beast. There is only one way to reverse the curse. The Beast must fall in love and earn that lady’s love in return. One day, a villager wanders onto the Beast’s property and he is captured by the Beast and held as a prisoner in the castle.  The man’s lovely daughter, Belle, ventures to the castle to convince the Beast to release her father.  The Beast agrees to release her father providing she takes his place.  Of course, Belle is willing to sacrifice herself to free her father. Will Belles be able to see beyond the outer shell of the Beast? Will the Beast show his vulnerability to Belle?

The cast of Beauty and the Beast is peopled by many familiar faces and some talented newcomers.  There was so much incredible talent at auditions that many roles were double cast.  Performing as the Beast are two Crighton veterans, Robben Montez and Ryan Dineen, while Belle is played by Hillary Cardenas and Melissa Arguello. Both ladies have previously graced the Crighton Stage. Gaston will be portrayed by Austin Atherton and Gerry Eddins, with sidekick LeFou hilariously portrayed by Luis Garcia Ayala, another fan favorite. Lumiere is played by Ren Magdaleno and newcomer Carlos Holstein. Mrs Potts is played by the much-loved Martha Davis as well as newcomer Carol Eddins. Madame De La Grande Bouche will be portrayed by Christina Sato and Katy McCants.

Beauty and the Beast will be onstage at the historic Crighton Theatre July 5-21, 2024.  Additional 2:00 matinees will be Saturday, July 13 and Saturday, July 20.
