Truly Thrive Therapy: Natural Solutions for Mental Health

Mental and emotional health is something that often gets pushed to the side, to be replaced by a focus on external achievements. When you have a stressful job, a large family to take care of, or big projects to tackle—it feels like there’s no time for emotions. “Just push them down and keep going,” you tell yourself.

After a while, you’ll start to notice symptoms coming out of nowhere: the inability to focus, feeling unmotivated, anxiety attacks, depression. It seems like this came out of blue, but the reality is, it’s been festering for a while. Left unattended to, these roots can grow deeper and produce more chaos as time goes on. Our mental and emotional health affects every area of our lives, and the longer we ignore it, the worse it gets.

This is why Eileen Borski started Truly Thrive Therapy, to help people identify the root of their emotional and mental health and give them tools to move forward. Using non-drug, brain-based approaches, Eileen is empowering people to thrive in everyday life.

Corporate Ladder to Licensed Counselor

Eileen Borski wasn’t always a therapist. Believe it or not—she spent many years pursuing a career in corporate America—leading business initiatives at oil and manufacturing companies like Schlumberger, General Electric, Tenaris, Hydril Company and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. Eileen’s journey with mental health began at Sam Houston State University where she received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. During her education, she stumbled upon some material about mental health and began doing more research on her own time.

“I started reading these articles and became very interested,” Eileen says. “I noticed a deep change in my own mental health as my thoughts and behaviors were shifted by what I learned.”

During her business career, Eileen noticed that her workday began to consist of people discussing their problems with her. This continued as people trusted her to walk them through things. After a while, Eileen said she could no longer avoid the desire to support the mental health of others, and decided to leave the corporate world.

She then received her second Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health, and became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). She also obtained advanced training to become a certified IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback Provider and an certified EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapist.

Eileen continues to pursue training, staying on the cutting edge of non-medication-based options for those suffering from ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, stroke symptoms, and more. Her senior-level corporate exposure gives her a deeper understanding of the human experience, and provides a unique perspective for her clients.

Truly Thrive Therapy

Eileen started Truly Thrive Therapy as a telehealth service in February 2022, and later expanded in November 2022 to provide support for the communities of Lake Conroe, Woodforest, Montgomery, and the surrounding areas.

Today, Eileen helps people truly thrive in life with a healthy emotional and mental state. By identifying roadblocks and heavy loads, she helps people move forward with clarity. Eileen develops personalized plans using non-drug, brain-based approaches that are custom to each person. EMDR and IASIS Solutions

IASIS MCN and EMDR are two different types of therapy that can be beneficial for individuals seeking treatment for a variety of mental health conditions. The practices work to stimulate the brain and reduce negative emotions. At Truly Thrive Therapy, Eileen focuses on these natural ways to retrain your brain and nervous system.

IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback

Biofeedback is a type of treatment that regulates your body’s functions while connected to electrical sensors. This method has been around for over 50 years, while neurofeedback has been around since the 90’s. IASIS is a further development of these types of treatments, and a new revolutionary system developed to restore balance to the brain. These treatments help with Anxiety, Depression, ADD, ADHD, OCD, Brain Injuries, Strokes, Post Traumatic Stress, Addictions, Insomnia and lots more.

“When I first started researching neurofeedback and came across IASIS, I wondered, ‘How can one system help with so many different things?’”

Eileen found that the brain has the ability to heal itself, and since the brain is the operating system of the body, training it affects everything else. When we have stressful or traumatic experiences that land in the body and brain (physical, emotional, sports injuries, parental separation, loss of a loved one, or chemical effects) the brain responds to protect us. The result is the response of fight, flight, freeze and fawn.

Some examples of behaviors associated with these responses include arguing with a co-worker treating you unfairly, freezing when you hear a noise in the dark, or keeping quiet about how you really feel. The goal of these responses is to return to a calm, safe state. However, overtime the state of fight, flight, freeze and fawn creates roadblocks. Alpha and Beta proteins build up and cause damage and disrupt the electrical flow in our brain.

“You can imagine how a disrupted electrical flow in your home can impede things,” Eileen says. “A simple example of disrupted flow is a kink in a hose. If the hose is kinked the water will not flow as fast and if kinked completely no water will flow.”

IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback unkinks or reboots the brain, returning things to optimal flow. Once the flow is back to the proper state, the symptoms decrease as the production of amino acids and stress hormones decreases. Managing these allows the central nervous system to calm down.

“Treatment with IASIS is very simple,” Eileen says. “The client does not feel anything during treatment and they can relax. It generally lasts only about 20 minutes or less.”

As the brain continues to engage in the IASIS process, over time clients report experiencing increased wellbeing, better mental health, and increased willingness to learn and engage in peak performance. In addition to the neurofeedback, Eileen also uses infrared light to improve the blood flow and oxygenation to the brain.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a form of therapy that can help individuals process traumatic experiences and reduce the intensity of negative emotions. It is a protocol-based therapy created to provide relief from addictions, anxiety, chronic pain, depression, OCD, PTSD and other symptoms associated with trauma.

During an EMDR session, the client will briefly focus on a target memory while participating in eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. These eye movements allow for a decrease in the vividness and emotion associated with the experience. The memories are then “unstuck” from the part of the brain that is not adaptive and move the memories to the part of the brain that can adapt.

“EMDR and IASIS give the brain what it needs to support an individual’s ability to reduce, minimize, or eliminate the symptoms related to life’s stressors—including physical and emotional trauma.” Eileen says.

Take Charge of Your Mental Health

Many of Eileen’s clients have experienced significant improvements in their overall mental and emotional health. With clients from ages 6 to 90, Eileen reports that 85% of her IASIS patients see positive changes in about 1-3 sessions. Clients inform Eileen that after working with their doctors they are able to reduce or stop taking prescription medication for conditions such as ADHD, anxiety and depression.

Hear it yourself from one of Eileen’s adult clients who struggled with anxiety:

“I feel less activated, less reactive and my emotions are not as intense. I can stop and control my emotions, and I’m not ruminating on things as much.” – Adult Anxiety Client

As a licensed professional, Eileen advises her community to take charge of their mental health by visiting someone who will listen and find the root causes of their symptoms. “Our mental health is the core of our existence,” Eileen says. “It impacts how we think, feel, act, and determines our resiliency to pressures of life and stress.”

Located in Montgomery, Texas on Lake Conroe, Eileen uses her office to make her patients feel comfortable and heard so they can truly thrive. She enjoys serving her community with the latest tools to support each person’s unique needs.
